About Double D Production:

Deja “The Lady Deja” Smith & Dee TrannyBear-Marino

DDPRO is a concierge Hair, Makeup, and Image Consulting company led by Dee TrannyBear and Deja “The Lady Deja” Smith. DDPRO’s aesthetic lies at the intersection of fashion, art, gender and performance; all of which continually influence this dynamic team. Our company perspective is driven by the co-founders trans, ethnic and national identities. Deja, a descendant of American slavery, and Dee a recent American émigré from Germany, working together to attain the great “American Dream.” DDPRO combines all of their intersectional experiences to produce art that changes the narrative surrounding marginalized people, serve the queer community and shift the beauty paradigm towards authentically inclusive and affirming media.

DDPRO’s client roster is a mélange of unique tastemakers and ambassadors for change. We proudly work with actor/activist Laverne Cox, internationally acclaimed painter, Kehinde Wiley, performance artist Alok Vaid-Menon and many other influential leaders across industries.

Recent endeavors have led to crossover opportunities for the brand outside the world of Makeup and Hair Styling. Beginning in 2018, Dee Trannybear represented the beauty of non-conformity as a model for the NYC PRIDE campaign and Dapper Q fashion show. Deja was awarded the 2018 Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, Transcendence Award for advocacy though art. In June of 2019 DDPROs talents were on display as Dee led the hair design and styling for the NYC World Pride campaign. In the Stonewall50 World Pride Parade, The Lady Deja drove the first grand marshal car which was in honor of LGBTQ rights pioneers Marsha P Johnson and Silvia Rivera. Presently, both Dee and Deja serve as advisory council members for the Ackerman Foundation's, Gender and Family Project. The team has also moderated and spoken on several panel discussions regarding gender, violence, equity and equality for organizations such as Flux, The Phluid Project, Dance/USA and the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP)

DDPRO was thrilled to end 2018 in collaboration with Fluid Beauty on their “Chosen Family” holiday campaign. Equally as exciting is completing 2019 with the self-produced “They Power” 10 page spread in Gay Times Magazine, commercial ad campaigns with H&M and Smirnoff and an Emmy Award nomination for Best Makeup on the FX series Pose.
